Old Glory Farm is a 2.5 acre homestead, down a dirt road and nestled into the woods. Our small family farm is located outside of Wendell, NC near Highway 231. We have been here for 8.5 years, and have been learning about and practicing various homesteading techniques for 8 years.
We, the Popa Family of 4, raise ADGA-registered Nigerian Dwarf Dairy goats, New Zealand Rabbits, American Guinea Hogs, Helmeted Guinea Fowl, Welsh Harlequin Ducks, Meatmaker Jumbo Coturnix Quail, Heritage Rhode Island Red Chickens, Black Star Chickens, & Crested Cream Legbar Chickens. We have raised several breeds of all these animals in the past, and have carefully chosen these breeds for our climate and for great production on the homestead.
We currently grow a garden, fruit trees, and berry bushes, and we have experimented with honey bees in the past.
Our goal is to produce as much of our own food as possible on our small lot. Our animals provide us with companionship, eggs, milk, meat, and pest control, and some even serve as an alarm system. From our gardens, fruit trees, and berry bushes, we harvest plenty of delicious edible foods for ourselves and for our livestock. We process all our own meat, dairy, fruits, and veggies here on our homestead and spend many hours making cheese, sausage, canned goods, and fermented foods that nourish our bodies.
We are located near Wendell NC, convenient to Raleigh, Durham, Wilson, Rocky Mount, and Fayetteville North Carolina – only a short drive from Highway 64/264 & Highway 95.
